Sushant Murthy of IFIM Law School appears on the CNN-IBN Prime Time Debate on “ National Anthem Controversy: Freedom of speech vs Reasonable Restriction”
As a law student, one of the basic skills one must possess is that of Debating. Be it in a courtroom or a corporate office, debating is essential in order to ensure success. Thus, when one of my professors approached
me with an opportunity to debate on live television, I couldn't refuse. After a short selection process, I was given the opportunity to represent my college in a CNN IBN Debate that was to be broadcasted live
across the nation on the 26th of October, 2017. The topic of the discussion involved the playing of the National Anthem in movie theatres, and the various legal intricacies surrounding it. After an initial briefing
session, the program began and a few minutes in I was asked a question regarding my thoughts on the issue from the point of view of a Law Student, for which I gave an answer opposing the measures taken by the
Government.
All in all, the overall experience was highly memorable and enriching. I would be amiss if I did not thank IFIM Law School, and more specifically Mrs. Uma Gopal, for giving me this wonderful
opportunity. It's not everyday that one gets the chance to broadcast his views across the nation.
